Requirements for a Notary Appointment
*Valid Identification
- The signer must present a current, government-issued ID (such as a driver's license, passport, or state-issued ID card).
- The ID should be in good condition, and the name, photo, and signature must be clear.
*Document(s)to Be Notarized
- Bring the document(s) that need notarization. Ensure all pages are intact and that no fields are left blank (except for the signature lines).
- If the document has pre-printed notarial language, ensure that the notary can use their own acknowledgment or jurat as appropriate.
*Signature
- The document should not be signed before meeting with the notary (unless it's a specific requirement for your notary services). The signer must sign the document in front of the notary.
- The notary cannot witness a signature if it was already signed prior to the appointment.
*Witnesses (If Applicable)
- Some documents require additional witnesses to be present. If this is the case, bring the required number of witnesses. Witnesses must also have valid identification.
- Check with the notary beforehand if witnesses are needed for your specific document.
*Payment
- Have payment ready for the notary's fee. Ensure you confirm pricing ahead of time to avoid confusion.
- Acceptable payment methods vary (cash, venmo, paypal, zelle or card), so ask the notary what they accept.
